Two Arrests Made in Prophetstown Fire

“The Illinois State Police say that two juveniles have been arrested in Prophetstown, IL, in connection with the [Monday,] July 15, 2013, fire that destroyed several buildings in the Prophetstown Business District.” 

[The boys are from out of state and were staying with their father for the summer, ISP Master Sgt. Chris Endress said.  The boys set fire to the recycling bin behind Cindy Jean’s Restaurant; no accelerant was used, he said.]

“In a joint investigation with the Illinois State Police, Prophetstown Police, State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, two juvenile boys age 16 and 12 have been arrested….

Tuesday morning, July 16, 2013, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the two boys were transported to a juvenile detention facility in Galesburg, IL.

Investigators are meeting with the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office to discuss formal charges.”
