Two Arrested After Response to Credit Union Alarm

On Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at approximately 1:29 a.m., Morrison Police responded to an alarm at the Morrison Community Federal Credit Union, 204 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Upon arrival, Morrison Police noticed the alarms remained activated, and a forced entry was made.  It was later determined that nothing was taken from the Credit Union.

As a result of the investigation, on Saturday, March 1, Morrison Police arrested the following persons, pursuant to Arrest Warrants issued by Whiteside County, 14th Judicial Circuit Court:

Colton M. Merema, age 18, of Morrison, IL, was charged with Burglary, a Class 2 Felony.  Bond was set at $75,000.

Alexander “Mart” Wegener, age 18, of Morrison, IL, was charged with Burglary, a Class 2 Felony.  Bond was set at $25,000.

Both Merema and Wegener were transported to the Whiteside County Jail.

The Morrison Police were assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, their K-9 Unit, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office.  The investigation continues with additional charges possible.

The public is reminded that these are merely charges, and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
