Tough Saturday for Mustangs

The Morrison Mustangs have been competing against the weather as well as the local baseball teams and finally got two games in and gave up leads in the seventh inning of both games to go 0-2 for the day.

The first game was to determine the conference lead as they went to Erie-Prophetstown with both teams being undefeated in conference play to date.

E-P sent Ethan Howard against Morrison’s Bill Lee Gruel and the dual commenced. Morrison could only muster three hits off of Howard, but took a 2 run lead in the second to have E-P come back with one in the third and one in the fifth to take a tie into the crucial seventh inning.

E-p added two runs in the seventh to overcome the Mustangs 4-3 and take over the three Rivers conference leadership.

Howard earned the win by giving up only three hits and striking out 9 Mustangs. Greul absorbed the loss even though he only surrendered six hits and struck out fourteen.
