This year’s Color Run race will start at 11:30 a.m. and will run from Morrison High School to the parking lot area of Morrison True Value Hardware. The race route will be the same as last year.
Here are the top five tips to surviving a color run.
1. Wear White. This year the Harvest Hammer race shirts will be darker in color. Color runners are encouraged to wear a white/lightly colored t-shirt, lighter colored shorts, and white knee socks for full effect.
2. Protect your eyes. Sunglasses will be given to the first 200 participants, but runners are encouraged to wear their own eye protection. Be creative.
3. Take before pictures. Let everyone see how nice and clean you looked before the race, so they can see just how crazy things got during the race.
4. Preserve the color. If you spray your clothes with vinegar post race and iron them, they will hold the color for much longer. Make sure you don’t just toss that shirt in the laundry, without Mom knowing about it. Bring a change of clothes or a towel for the car ride home.
5. Be careful with electronics. It is a great idea to keep your phone/headphones in a ziplock bag during the race. As hard as you try, you will not be able to keep the powdered paint from wreaking havoc on your devices.
Most importantly, have fun! While most color runs are a full 5k, the Harvest Hammer/Paint the Town color run is short enough that even youngsters can participate. So, be ready for some serious fun, Saturday, September 17, 2016.
