Timber Lake Playhouse, the professional summer theatre of Northwest Illinois, presents “Born Yesterday” through Saturday, June 30, 2018, and also will host on Saturday, June 30, a Murder Mystery Dinner. The playhouse is located at 8215 Black Oak Road in rural Mount Carroll, IL.
Now through Saturday, June 30, enjoy a famous comedy with one of the longest Broadway runs in history. Set in 1946, an uncouth, corrupt, rich junk dealer, Harry Brock, brings his showgirl mistress Billie Dawn with him to Washington, D.C. When Billie’s ignorance becomes a liability to Brock’s business dealings, he hires a journalist, Paul Verrall, to educate his girlfriend.
Paul finds Billie has a frankness and natural honesty in her that no one expected. In the process of learning, Billie Dawn realizes how corrupt Harry is and begins interfering with his plans to bribe a Congressman into passing legislation, that would allow Brock’s business to make more money.
The hilarious fallout precipitates a political (and personal) crisis, as Billie decides to take matters into her own hands.
At 6:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 30, join your TLP Company of Actors for our Murder Mystery Dinner. Sherlock and John Watson will join us for dinner on the grounds, in The Barn, as we try to figure out who killed our host and what they did with the body.
Enjoy a menu of traditional English fare including

- Shepherd’s Pie
- Yorkshire Pudding (made with eggs, flour, milk, and water) for dessert
