TLP Gala Baskerville: A Merry Ole Celebration of Theatre

BaskervilleOne of Sherlock Holmes’s most-frequently used quotes still rings true:  “How often have I said that, when you have excluded the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”  Who would think that Timber Lake Playhouse, your Theatre in the Woods, would be a launching pad for actors, as well as a cultural center for the Midwest?  But, as Sherlock says, “It must be the truth.”

The TLP Board is committed to further growth at the theatre for actors, supporters, and our communities.  To this end, TLP’s 11th Annual GALA, “Baskerville:  A Merry Ole Celebration of Theatre” will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Wagner House, 1 E. Spring Street, in Freeport, Illinois.

“The theme of this year’s GALA is taken from TLP’s fourth show of the summer, ‘Baskerville:  A Sherlock Homes Mystery,’” said TLP Board President, Robin Saar.  The game is afoot to transform Wagner House into 221 B Baker Street, NW, London.  “Guests may dress in London/Sherlock Holmes-specific attire or come in business casual,” said Saar.  “They will be greeted by Sherlock and his trusty aide, Watson, as well as other English characters.”

Troy and Donna Lessman of Lessman Catering will design an English-themed meal, including Ploughman’s lunch (cold meal based around bread, cheese, and onions, usually with butter and some form of pickle; ham, green salad, hard boiled eggs, and apple can be added), English Bangers (sausages), and Beef Tenderloin.  After the main course, guests will have the opportunity to bid on many desserts provided by area bakers.

One of the main attractions of the evening is the auction events.  Live and silent auctions feature unique experiences, dinners, special theatre events, sports tickets, and fabulous-themed baskets.  The Dessert Auction features fabulous desserts from bakers around northwestern Illinois.

This is the largest fundraiser for Timber Lake Playhouse.  Tickets for the event are $75 and may be purchased at timberlakeplayhouse.org or by calling 815-244-2035.  Please support Timber Lake Playhouse by attending the 11th Annual Gala on July 27.  It jolly well will be a corker!
