On Monday, December 13, 2013, six Seahorses traveled to Freeport, IL, High School to swim in the Winter Time Trials hosted by the Freeport Aquatic Swim Team. The meet was set up to allow swimmers to swim longer events which they normally do not have the opportunity to swim in regular swim meets, and to give swimmers another chance to try to make Regional cuts. Freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke were the strokes the kids could compete in at this meet. The trip was well worth it. Kate Henson, Skylar Drolema, and BayLeigh Brewer, shown left-to-right below, all qualified for Regionals in the 500 Freestyle. Kate also qualified in the 50 Breaststroke. These three Seahorses will make the trip to the 2014 Speedo Illinois Swimming Winter Regional Championship Meet in Barrington, IL, on Friday, February 28, through Sunday, March 2, 2014. Kate Henson – 500 Free – 7:27.95 (*Regional Time).
