The following information was published in the Quad-City Times by Ed Tibbetts, on Friday, April 4, 2014.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons listed 15 positions for employment at Thomson Correctional Center, Thomson, IL. “The posts include a budget and technology officer, [information technology] IT specialist, and correctional supervisors.”
The pay for these jobs varies considerably. For example, the budget analyst pay ranges from $49,520 to $63,894. The supervisory IT specialist could earn between $82,642 and $107,434 a year.
“Congress still hasn’t signed off on the agency’s 2014 spending plan[, which involves] $53.7 million…for the first phase of activating the prison.” Ten million dollars is slated for [future] renovations; the balance will fund “equipment, staffing, and other upgrades.”
“The opening of the prison is expected to take two years at a cost of $195 million.” It will hold 1600 inmates.
The number of those to be employed at the prison has been estimated at about 900.
