The Thomson, IL, Lions Club has erected a plaque at the York Community Library to commemorate the charter members. Thomson Lions Club was organized on July 22, 1957. The Club was sponsored by Morrison Lions Club and consisted of the following members.
Over the years Lions have provided needed glasses and hearing aids to residents; sponsored many community events, including Melon Days, Music Festival, and dances; provided donations to many worthy civic projects. Two signiicant projects were street signs and the Thomson Lions Park near the library.
