Thomas O. Stoudt, 80, of Erie, IL, died Friday, August 14, 2020, at his home.
Thomas Osborne Stoudt was born October 10, 1939, in Bell, CA, the son of Uhlan and Marjorie (Hendricks) Stoudt. He was educated in the Erie Schools and graduated from Erie High School in the class of 1958. In 1959 Tom joined the U. S. Air Force, where he served honorably until his retirement in May 1979. He then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Lathe Machinist until he retired in 1993. Following his career with the Government, he drove school bus for the Erie Schools for nearly 20 years, until he reached the age of 75. Tom married Sharon Border on April 25, 1969, in Erie, and shared 51 years with her. Tom was one of four men who began the Erie RC Club in 1980 and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for several years. He was a member of Denton-Schreiner American Legion Post 582.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three sons; several grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Beth and Clyde Kramer, Erie, Lynn and Donna Border, Morrison, IL, Lauren and Cindy Border, of Iowa, and Wanda and Mike Keegan, Fenton, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carole; brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Carol Border; great nephew, Todd Givens.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Moline Hospice Compassus or to his wife Sharon Stoudt or additional charities to be determined.
