Thomas G. “Smoothie” Smith, 61, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Coventry Living Center, Sterling, IL.
Tom was born February 25, 1952, in Morrison, to Gene M. and Janet F. (Janke) Smith. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1969 and then attended Morrison Institute of Technology. He married Cindy L. Ostema on March 9, 1984, in Sterling. Tom first worked for General Electric Co. in Morrison, later for Color Star Painting and then Steve Wilkens Painting, both of Morrison. He was a member of the Painters and Allied Union. Tom enjoyed wood carving, hunting, fishing, yard-work and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking and conversing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; two sons, Marshall (Erin Sanders) Smith and Taylor Smith, both of Morrison; one sister, Nancy (Steven) Merrill of Laurel, MD, (formerly of Sterling); one brother, David Smith, of Marshalltown, IA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The family requests that people come in casual dress for Tom’s service.

VISITATION: 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service, Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
Cremation rites will be acccorded following services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
