A fluffy, swiftly-melted snowfall began late Wednesday night, December 14, 2022, and continued into the next day. Weather was not a problem for those who attended the final Third Thursday coffee time of this year, at The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, on December 15.
Business owner of “the blue violet,” LuEllen Lee, crossed the street for a few minutes to join the first attendees. Others arrived at different times between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Each could sample homemade, seasonal desserts, coffee, and eggnog with their conversations.
Left-to-right, Everett Pannier, Sharon Boyles, Marcia Haag, Joan Vander Bleek, and Martha Kophamer spotted an appealing Christmas ornament, which earlier had been painted by local children and adults. These art pieces would be collected soon and put onto home trees.
Left-to-right are visitors Ron Coplan, Vander Bleek, Pannier, and Duane “Barney” Habben. The last three individuals are admired, exhibiting artists at the gallery.
Illustrator and author David Alan Badger, Havana, IL, has several books for sale that feature area architecture. He has added color to new publications and publishes illustrated town walking tours. One is titled 362 Drawings of Whiteside County, Illinois. Badger’s artistry was a vibrant component in the Morrison Sesquicentennial celebration and Farm Bureau Barn Tours.
Suzanne Stewart has three new paintings, using three media. From top-to-bottom are a watercolor shore scene; soft pastel eggs; an ink and watercolor beach.
Prophetstown, IL, blacksmith Daryl Drennen’s steel tree is the ideal display for locally-made ornaments. The tree is for sale.
This whimsical gourd angel is by Mari Jo Schuneman.
The first Third Thursday gathering of 2023 will be on January 19. The door will be open for you.
