thelma dykstraThelma M. Dykstra, 87, of Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at Resthave Home Assisted Living in Morrison.

Thelma was born September 24, 1931, in Fulton, to Alfred G. and Nellie (Byland) Kettler.  She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School.  Thelma married Raymond J. Dykstra on October 25, 1949, in Fulton.  She farmed alongside her husband in the rural Fulton and Thomson, IL, areas for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  Thelma was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton, where she was active in the Helping Hands Society, the King’s Daughters, and as a Youth Leader.  She also taught Sunday school and the Bethel Bible Series.  She delivered Meals on Wheels along with her husband.  Thelma enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending many winters in Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond; one daughter, Mary (Greg) Cravatta of Genoa, IL; three sons, Randall (Karen) Dykstra of Fulton, Allen (Nancy) Dykstra of Morrison, IL, and Edward (Alice Beveroth) Dykstra of Thomson, IL; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; one brother, Clarence “Clink” (Marian) Kettler of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother’s wife, Jeanne Kettler.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019, at the First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, with Rev. Edie Lenz officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.

Memorials have been established to Scleroderma Foundation and Resthave Home.
