KoreanWarVeteransMonumentSmallThe Whiteside Forum will open their new season on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., in the Program Room of the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, in Morrison, IL, with Guest Speaker Marvin Arians.  Arians is a Korean War veteran.  He will give us some insight into what has long been considered to be “Amerca’s Forgotten War.”

A question and answer period will follow the presentation, which is free and open to the public.

The 2018-2019 Whiteside Forum season will include an eclectic blend of topics, including recent history, ancient history, current events and extreme sports, with local and international interest.

Our next event is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, with the same time and venue.  We will host Iowa State University Professor Kimberly Zarecor.  She will talk about her research on “small rural town revitalization.”

The Whiteside Forum, established in 1985, is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit community group which sponsors presentations and discussions of issues of importance and interest to the public. Issues chosen for conferences have an international dimension as well as local interest and importance.  The organization is supported entirely by individual, special, and business contributions.  All events are free and open to the public.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial is haunting.  Reflected, larger-than-life statues among departed souls are visible on the polished black granite wall.
