The Connection trio made a positive connection with their audience, during a concert at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Morrison Historical Society invited patriotic music lovers to celebrate Illinois’ Bicentennial anniversary and military personnel, through “Songs with Historical Significance.”
The captivating trio performed instrumentals and three-part harmony vocals, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. They performed 15 songs in a “Salute to America,” with sing-along lyrics for three on the back of the set list. During the “Armed Services Medley,” veterans were invited to stand as their branch of service song was sung. The audience spontaneously accompanied the musicians in song. Veterans were applauded as they stood to the music.
None in the audience knew lyrics to the State Song of Illinois.” It is not often played. They chimed in on the chorus, however. Click to hear a vocal soloist.
“Music is part of the fabric of life,” stated Engwall. “It takes you back to your past, to relive different areas of your life.”
The museum is located at 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. Morrison’s Heritage Museum is accessible to all, with a ramp entrance at the back of the building. Groups are invited to hold meetings at the museum.
