Two special events this weekend will put a cap on the 60th season of Clinton Symphony Orchestra. “A Symphonic Affair,” the symphony’s annual social event and fund-raiser is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014.
The orchestra will play a free outdoor Pops Concert in the remodeled band shell in Riverview Park Sunday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m.
The Friday event at Rastrelli’s Tuscany Center, 238 Main Avenue, Clinton, IA, features live and silent auctions of thousands of dollars of goods and services, donated to support the Symphony. Items range from home-made items, gift cards,dinners, musical instruments, and services; a hunting trip; tickets to a Cubs game. Participants will feast on Rastrelli’s famous and lavish appetizers. A cash bar is available, and there will be unique musical entertainment.

On Sunday, Children’s Discovery Center will have activities for the younger members of the audience, as the orchestra sets up for its performance beside the Mississippi River. Listeners are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, insect repellant, blankets, and picnics for a festive evening under the stars with family and friends in Riverview Park.
Music, under the direction of Brian Dollinger, will include tunes from movies and Broadway, as well as patriotic songs and marches. Rainsite is the U. S. Bank building, 405 S. 3rd Street, Clinton.
