sylvia vegterSylvia A. Vegter, 93, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Resthave.

Sylvia was born January 5, 1922, in Fulton, IL, to Dick K. and Winnie (Balk) Wiebenga. She was educated in the Fulton Christian School and graduated from Fulton High School. On May 1, 1941, she married Willard “Bill” Vegter. He died September 1974. Sylvia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Morrison Christian Reformed Church in Morrison. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed traveling with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce (Jim) Hoefler of Rock Falls, IL; three sons, Harlan (Marilyn) Vegter, Richard Vegter, and Larry Vegter, all of Morrison; 11 grandchildren; 20 great=grandchildren; one great-grea-grandchild; one brother, Harvey Wiebenga of Clinton, IA; one daughter-in-law, Connie Vegter of Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; two sons, one in infancy and Allan Vegter; two sisters, Anna Mae Mitchell and Rena Wiebenga; two brothers, George and Clarence Wiebenga; a daughter-in-law, Becky Vegter.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Dr. James T. Petersen, Pastor of Morrison Christian Reformed Church

VISITATION:  6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL

A memorial to Newman High School in Sterling, IL, has been established.
