What a lovely practical math assignment! Sullivan’s Foods, U. S. Route 30 and Madison Street, Morrison, IL, tallied donations and purchases separately, to determine the splendid total donation made to Morrison Friends Food Pantry. The stores’s community service project began with their Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
Customers purchased paper leaves for $1 and made donations–this amounted to $404.
Patrons purchased pre-assembled grocery bags filled with either non-parishable food or toiletries–the bags earned $420.
On Wednesday, December 19, a presentation of $824 was made to MFFP Director Kaywyn Beswick, below. At left, Assistant Manager Jeramie Reatherford awards Beswick one check; at right, Manager Danny Baker offers the second.
Beswick and Reatherford loaded the stacks of bags for Beswick to deliver to Morrison Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, home of the local food pantry. She stated families may come once a month. These items will be distributed in time for Christmas, on Thursday, December 20, between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
