Sullivan’s Foods Manager Danny Baker noted the Leaf donation program has been in place “at least eight years. It keeps growing every year. Our customers are getting thanked” for their support. He has worked for the store 40 years and been Manager for the past ten.
On Friday, December 15, 2017, Baker presented a check for $1197 to the Morrison Friends Food Pantry. Each fall, Baker challenges his checkers to sell paper leaves to customers, which are displayed on the store windows. Connie Barr sold the most–440. Second place was Tonya Snyder; third place was Gracyn Schmidt. All received Sullivan’s Gift Card for their efforts.
At the 11:00 a.m. check presentation were, left-to-right, Customer Assistant Barr; Manager Baker; Morrison Friends Food Pantry representative Deb Wikoff; Assistant Store Manager Vinny Polise.
Barr chose to wear an appropriate sign on her back, in order to assist shoppers around the store. While under a major renovation, items have been relocated. She stands beside the Mitten Tree, another generous store event.
Prior to Sullivan’s Foods second annual Cookie Walk, Friday, December 15, Saturday, December 16, and Sunday, December 17, former Morrison resident Manager/Baker/Cake Decorator Marsha Story, now of Prophetstown, IL, spent five days baking. She produced “50 variations. Give yourself the gift of time” is the slogan in the bakery department.
From 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., customers select their favorite combinations for $5.99 per pound. The Editor’s cookie plate shows 15 varieties, which is only 30% of the 50 types of cookies that are for sale! Be sure to ask what filling some contain.
