Steven E. Howard, 78, of Albany, IL, died Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center, Iowa City, IA.
Steven was born on September 25, 1940, in Clinton, IA, the son of Harry H. and Harriett C. (Shannon) Howard. He is U. S. Air Force veteran. He was the owner and operator of Howard’s Tap, Albany, for 26 years. He was a member of the Albany American Legion, Post #328 and Morrison V.F.W. Steven enjoyed playing Texas Holdem, reading, and woodworking. Steven was also an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Survivors include his sister, Christine (Alan) Ottens, of Morrison, IL; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Greg) Abbott and Marci (Eugene) Smith, both of Camanche, IA, Monica Ottens of Louisville, KY, Brad (Kelly) Ottens of Sterling, IL, and Ryan Ottens of Chadwick, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Howard.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30, Monday, September 23, 2019, at the McDonald Funeral Home, Fulton, IL.
A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Rick Koch officiating.
Burial will be in the Lusk Memorial Cemetery, Albany, IL, with Military Rites conducted by the Morrison American Legion.
In lieu of flowers there has been a memorial established for the Albany Fire and Ambulance Association.
The family requests that Steven’s friends are encouraged to wear their Chicago Bears attire to his services.
