During game one of a Saturday, April 23, 2016, double-header over Peru St. Bede, Morrison High School pitcher Joey Brackemyer handled the opponent.  He racked up 11 strikeouts in six innings of shutout ball and allowed only one hit.

Brackemyer did his best to jumpstart the offense for Morrison, reaching base three times.  He scored two runs and had one RBI.  He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth.

The game’s last lead went to Morrison, thanks to a first inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on a two-run single by Ryan VanZuiden.

Morrison tacked on another four runs in the fourth, when Cody Southern kicked things off with a triple, scoring Merik Kennendy.

Three runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Peru St. Bede close its deficit to 8-3.  A two-run error gave St. Bede life before Kennedy got the last out, as St. Bede’s Booker struck out.
