On Sunday, September 15, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released the following statement, in response to an apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
“I am relieved that former President Donald Trump is okay, after an apparent assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, FL, today.
“Thanks to technology and quick action by Law Enforcement, the suspect was taken into custody swiftly. While we learn the motivations of this case, it’s important we stop the political divisiveness that causes people to react with dangerous intent.
“And let me be clear, political violence has no place in the United States of America.”
