The Sisters of St. Francis Clinton, IA, “promote social justice and support efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, and human rights. We encourage everyone to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication.”
To that end, they host a Social Justice Film Fest on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., at The Canticle, 841 13th Avenue North, Clinton.
The next film, “The Invisible Class,” is March 19, 2020. The public is invited to these free monthly events, featuring “films that matter!”
Mass homelessness in the United States did not always exist; so how did we get to where we are today? “The Invisible Class” explores what it truly means to be homeless in America. It challenges stereotypes and examines the systemic causes of mass homelessness in the wealthiest Nation in the world.
From coast to coast, the film explores the story of homelessness across America: the system that created it, the devastating impacts of the loss of affordable housing, and the criminalization that perpetuates it.
