Sloppy Win

Posted by

A Thursday afternoon game between the Kewanee Boilermakers and the Morrison Mustangs was labeled “Sloppy” by Kewanee loyal spectators. They saw 29 runs, 24 hits, and 13 errors and maybe they had a right to be critical in the 18-11 Morrison win.

Every Mustang starter collected at least one hit, with six collecting multiple knocks en route to the Conference win. Fifteen batters reached first without the aid of a base hit.  The Mustangs built a 15-2 lead after 21/2 innings, only to allow the Boilers nine runs in the next three innings.

The game was played as a two-location doubleheader, first game in Clinton, IA, and the chilly nightcap in Morrison, IL, in an effort to make up a game weathered out earlier in the season.
