Trombonist Ryan Neumann to Present Recital

The United Methodist Church of Morrison invites the community to RECITALS for ADVENT Friday, December 19th, presented by the New Visions: New Directions Ministries. The thirty-minute recital will begin at noon in the sanctuary, and will be followed by a soup luncheon.

This concert will feature trombonist Ryan Neumann of Morrison accompanied by John Frame. Ryan has been an avid trombonist since beginning band on the south side of Chicago. Ryan, a graduate of the University of Illinois, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, and was Band Director for five years in the River Bend School District in Fulton. In 2003, he completely changed vocations. At Creative Kitchens and Bath, Inc of Sterling, he now helps homeowners and contractors design kitchens and bathrooms for both new homes and remodeling projects.

Music is still an important part of Ryan’s life. He is both the announcer and principal trombonist for the Sterling Municipal Band, and as a lover of jazz, is the first trombonist in the Rock River Jazz Band. He is also the founding member of the newly formed brass quintet: Sterling Brass. Ryan’s wife, Cheryl Neumann, teaches band, choir and music education classes at Morrison Junior High School. They are the parents of two children: Molly and Adam.

Ryan’s program will feature both concert repertoires for the trombone and beloved Christmas songs, including “O, Holy Night.”

A soup luncheon will follow the concert. There is no charge for the concert; however, the soup luncheon is a free will offering.
