WC Health Clinic to Host Open House

Whiteside County Community Health Clinic is hosting an Open House Friday, December 12, to celebrate the completion of additions to its acute medical and dental clinics.

The Medical Clinic, 1300 W. 2nd St., Rock Falls, expanded to 17 exam rooms, doubled the number of nurses’ stations and several offices for administration and physicians. The Dental Clinic, 1308 W. 2nd St., Rock Falls, expanded from 7-to-10 dental suites and the front lobby was expanded.

Since opening in May 2006, Whiteside County Community Health Clinic has experienced substantial growth with more people who either lack health insurance, have high insurance premiums and others on Medicare or Medicaid seeking medical and dental care, said Beth Fiorini, executive director of Whiteside County Community Health Clinic

A total of 19,065 patients were seen by either the Medical or Dental clinics or by behavioral health services between May 1, 2006, and Oct. 1 of this year, Fiorini said. The total number of patients had 22,966 dental visits, 22,513 medical visits and 4,382 behavioral health visits The Open House, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12, and Fiorini has high expectations that U.S. Representative Phil Hare will attend. Congressman Hare, D-Rock Island, was instrumental in securing a $303,484 federal earmark grant that was used to pay for part of the $1 million project. “Patients are telling us they appreciate all the work we have done to make their time spent at as a patient more pleasant,” Fiorini said.

Fiorini is encouraging all residents to attend the Open House and take a tour of the Medical and Dental Clinics. “Please come join the Whiteside County Community Health Clinic Governing Council, our Board of Health members and our staff as we celebrate the opening of our expanded facilities. Live music will be performed and light refreshments will be served.
