Single Vehicle Semi Crash
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a single vehicle semi crash on RT 30 just east of Akker Road, East of Fulton on December 3, 2008 at approximately 12:05 p.m.
Worlie Spearman III, 28, of Lithonia GA was traveling westbound on US RT 30 when he entered a sharp curve. Due to the snowy weather conditions, Spearman lost control of his semi, crossed both lanes of traffic, jack knifing, and then went off the road. His semi struck a cement box culvert, went slightly airborne and then struck an embankment. Curing the crash one of the diesel saddle tanks broke loose from the truck and spilled several gallons of diesel fuel in the ditch.
Fulton Fire Department was called to contain the spill and Fulton Ambulance personnel treated Spearman at the scene. Spearman refused transport to the hospital. Hunter Towing and Recovery also assisted deputies at the scene.
Spearman’s semi tractor was a total loss. Spearman was cited for Driving Too Fast For Conditions.

Single Vehicle Crash
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash on December 3, 2008, which occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Rock Road, northeast of Fenton, IL. A vehicle driven by Krista P. Burress, 34, of Fenton was traveling east on Rock Road when she lost control of the pickup she was driving. She went off the roadway due to slippery road conditions and struck several small trees, coming to rest in the ditch.
Burress was transported to Morrison Community Hospital by private vehicle, where she was treated and released for minor injuries.

Single Vehicle Semi Crash
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a single vehicle semi crash on Albany Road, west of Mohawk Road, northwest of Erie at approximately 8 a.m. on December 4, 2008.
Curtis R. Prater, 22, of Clinton, IA was traveling eastbound in his semi tractor-trailer rig when he crested a hill in the road. He noticed a stopped school bus at the bottom of the hill and attempted to brake his empty semi. The truck jack-knifed across both lanes of Albany Road.
Erie Ambulance transported prater to Illini Hospital for minor injuries. Erie Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
Albany Road was closed for approximately one hour during the accident. No citations were issued.
