Theodore "Ted" Koenes

THEODORE “TED” KOENES, 94, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the nursing home.

Ted was born May 19, 1914, in East Clinton, IL, to William and Katie (Huizenga) Koenes. He was educated in the East Clinton grade schools. He married Corabelle Wilkins on December 6, 1940, in Fulton, IL. She died March 18, 1980. He later married Jeanette Dykema on September 1, 1983. She died June 6, 2007. Ted was employed at the Clinton Distilling Company in Clinton, IA, and later went to work at the E.I. Dupont Company in Clinton, IA, for 25 years, until retiring in 1974. He also worked for the Civil Conservation Corps during the depression years. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. Ted’s loves were his home, shop, garden and family. He was greatly anticipating the arrival of his first great-great grandchild.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Mrs. Richard) Smith of Fulton, IL; one son, Gary (Priscilla) Koenes of Clinton, IA; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three stepsons, Roger (Cheryl) Dykema of Sterling, IL, Arlyn (Terry) Dykema of Chadwick, IL and Gary Dykema of Savanna, IL; seven step-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jane Koenes.

He was preceded in death by both wives, Corabelle and Jeanette; two sons, Timothy Koenes and one in infancy; two sisters, Fanny Huff and Martha Parker; seven brothers, Ralph, Claus, Jacob, Fritz, Herman, Willis and Henry Koenes.
