UMC Recitals for Advent |
|
The United Methodist Church of Morrison invites the community to RECITALS for ADVENT, Friday, December 5th and Friday, December 19th, presented by the New Visions: New Directions Ministries. Both thirty-minute recitals will begin at noon in the sanctuary, and will be followed by a soup luncheon. Friday, December 5th’s concert will feature John and Anne Frame. Their music will include both four-hand piano and piano/organ duets highlighting the Advent and Christmas season. The familiar and joyous carols of this time of year will be presented in captivating arrangements, including: “Joy to the World,” “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” “Ding, Dong Merrily on High,” “A Carol Fantasy,” and others. Noted arranger, Howard Helvey, who specializes in duets, arranged several of the four-hand piano pieces. John and Anne Frame both taught in the Morrison school system. During his career in Morrison, John taught junior high and high school music for twenty years. Before retiring in 2005, John taught junior high language arts. Anne’s career included teaching fourth grade, elementary and junior high vocal music, and high school theatre and English. John is director/accompanist of the Methodist Choir as well as participating in Dixon’s Canterbury Singers. Both are involved in church and community activities. The Friday, December 19th recital will present Ryan Neumann, trombonist, and John Frame, accompanist. Come and let your hearts, minds and spirits be lifted with the music of the season. There is no charge for the concert; however, a free offering will be accepted for the soup luncheon. by Editor, theCity1.com |
