SUV vs Semi Tractor Trailer Accident
The driver of the SUV, Hugo A. Diaz, 17, of Chicago, was traveling eastbound on I-88 when Diaz stated he bent over to pick up his cell phone. When he bent over, the SUV collided with the eastbound tractor-trailer causing major damage to both units. A 16-year-old Chicago passenger in the vehicle was partially ejected and flown from the scene by Medforce Helicopter. He was later airlifted to Peoria for further treatment. The other occupant, a 13-year-old Chicago male, and Diaz were not injured. The driver of the semi from Wisconsin was not injured either.
Illinois State Police from Districts 1 and 7, Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsdale Fire, Genesis EMS, Erie Fire, Erie EMS, Medforce, and Bright’s Auto Body all assisted on scene. Charges are pending.

Three Vehicle Accident with Injuries
Whiteside County Deputies responded to a multiple vehicle crash with injuries at US Route 30 and IL Route 136, rural Fulton on November 23, 2008 at approximately 2:37 p.m. A vehicle driven by Yeun Hwoi Kim, 21, of Champaign, was originally eastbound on Il Route 136 when she approached the intersection with US Route 30. Kim failed to see the vehicle eastbound on US Route 30, driven by Lance E. Wiersema, 35, Clinton, IA. Kim pulled out in front of the Wiersema vehicle causing the violent crash to occur. The Wiersema vehicle then crashed into another vehicle stopped at the intersection of Frog Pond Road and US Route 30 driven by Martin A. Lamb, 46, Sterling.
The occupants of the Kim vehicle were transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment and observation while the other occupants of the other vehicles refused treatment on scene.
Kim was cited for Failure to Yield from a Stop Intersection.
Fulton Police, Fulton Fire, Fulton EMS, Morrison EMS, Illinois State Police, Midwest Collision, and Downtown Auto assisted on scene.
