THIRD GRADERS EXPLORE LOCAL HISTORY |
|
The Morrison Historical Society was delighted recently by the third grade classes that visited Morrison’s Heritage Museum. Most of the children had not been to the museum before and were excited to see the many displays. On October 22, Ms. Nicol Wescott and Ms. Jennifer Schipper and their students visited the museum and viewed exhibits of Morrison’s heritage. Ms. Sue Keim, Mr. Joe Robin, and their students visited the museum on October 27. The students’ favorite displays covered a wide range of artifacts. These included trains, vintage Rich toys formerly manufactured in Morrison, old-fashioned kitchen equipment, the medical exhibit, Post Office, and, of course, the Whiteside County Jail door. The Historical Society Board of Trustees hopes the students visit again, perhaps accompanied by their family, and that the 2009 third grade classes will enjoy exploring local history on display at Morrison’s Heritage Museum.
