Flood Preparedness and Recovery Workshop December 11

Floods and other weather-related disasters have adversely affected agricultural land in portions of Whiteside and Rock Island Counties this past year. To address these issues, University of Illinois Extension received a USDA Special Needs Grant to deal with flood preparedness and recovery from 2008. If you were affected by flooding this year, please attend this workshop. This workshop will assist producers trying to recover from the flood.

Topics that will be covered at this workshop include:

- Conservation Reserve Program on flood plains
- Wetland Reserve & Emergency Watershed Program
- Also, there will be representatives from the SWCD, NRCS, and FSA offices that will discuss program details, rental rates, and land eligibility.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Whiteside County Extension Office, Morrison. The workshop will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 12:00 (Noon).

Due to limited space, pre-registration is required by December 5, 2008. The program is set for 35 participants.

For more information or if you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please Greg Clark at the Whiteside County Extension office at 100 East Knox Street, Morrison or call (815) 772-4075.

This workshop is sponsored by the Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District, University of Illinois Extension, and funded by CSREES Flood Grant.
