Ashford University Homecoming 2008 Homecoming Week |

Ashford University is adding a Community Breakfast to the list of events planned for its Homecoming 2008 celebration. The community is invited to the breakfast in Durgin Educational Center from 6:30-9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. On the menu will be pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, orange juice and coffee; the cost will be $5.00. Campus tours will be available during the event. Many student activities are planned for Homecoming Week, November 10-15, with each day having a different theme: “Gender Exchange Day” on Monday; “Hats on Day,” in support of children with cancer, on Tuesday, “Nerd Day” on Wednesday, “Era Days” (1970s, 80s and 90s) on Thursday, “Class Colors Day” on Friday, and “Purple and Gold Day” on Saturday. Other activities include cosmic bowling on Monday night, a dance competition on Tuesday, “Name that Tune” game show on Wednesday, a fashion show and annual bonfire on Thursday, and a home men’s basketball game against Graceland University at 7 p.m. in Kehl Arena on Friday. On Saturday, Ashford campus tours will be available for returning alumni from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.; interested persons should meet in the Durgin Center lobby. Later in the day, Ashford’s women’s basketball team hosts Illinois Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. and the men’s basketball team faces Briar Cliff University at 3 p.m. Both games will be played in Kehl Arena in the Durgin Center. Ashford’s homecoming week culminates Saturday night with “Flashing Lights,” the annual dinner and dance, at Rastrelli’s Tuscany Room in Clinton. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner and recognition of alumni at 7 p.m. During the dance, between 8-11 p.m., the homecoming king and queen will be crowned. All alumni from the institution are invited to Saturday’s activities.
