Ashford University Plans Annual Fall Play

Ashford University will present its fall play, a musical revue of 2008 on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. in its Mullany Theater.

"The show is really a revue of the year 2008 with musical numbers organized according to themes: politics, the economy, war, weather and pop culture,” said Dr. Robert Engelson, chair of Ashford’s music department and director and music director for the production. “The songs, taken from musical genres including nineteenth- and twentieth-century popular song and Broadway musicals, serve as commentaries on those themes.”

Ashford students in the cast include Lanna Bartko, Champaign, IL; John Flyr, Des Moines, IA; Matt Jacobsen, Goose Lake, IA; Kelsey Jones, Bettendorf, IA; Eddie Keiller, Clinton, IA; Drew Minnick, Clinton, IA; Kasey Romano, Elgin, IL; Allie Segura, Rock Falls, IL; and Karla Zapata, Rockford, IL. Tasha McFarling, Newton, IA and Myk Meador, Lenexa, KS are on the technical crew and Thea Engelson is accompanist.

The public is invited to the play; admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and senior citizens.
