Ashford Grad to Speak about Wahl Clipper’s Vision

Ashford University’s Phi Beta Lambda student organization will host a presentation on international business activity at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Ashford’s Regis Conference Room which is located on the second floor of St. Clare Hall. The public is invited to the free session.

Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization for students interested in a business career.

Wahl Clipper Corporation: An International Business Perspective is being presented by Joe Leddy, Rotary Value Stream Manager at Wall Clipper Corp., Sterling, Illinois. Wahl Clipper was founded in 1911 by Leo J. Wahl who developed the first electromagnetic hair clipper in 1919. In 1921 the business was incorporated, patents were secured and manufacturing grew. Today, Greg Wahl continues to grow the family owned business. Under his leadership, the company sets its sights on Leading with Vision for the 21st century. Wahl’s website states, “Leading with Vision means constantly being alert to new opportunities. By sharing the vision, we can make tomorrow absolutely extraordinary."

Leddy’s presentation will address the opportunities that Wahl Clipper Corporation derives from international business; cost/revenue effects from international business; insight about international work experience and adjusting for cultural differences; how Leddy’s position has changed and continues to evolve; and Wahl’s future growth strengths, challenges, opportunities and threats.

Leddy, who recently received his B.A. in Organizational Management degree from Ashford University, has worked for Wahl Clipper for 11 years where he has held several positions. Most recently he worked for five years as an industrial engineer before accepting his current position of Value Stream Manager. He lives in Milledgeville, Illinois with his wife and two children.
