Bus Trip Peace

by Angie VanderVinne

I had the privilege of escorting 19 fabulous women to the Extraordinary Women’s Conference in Rockford, last weekend. This was my first time coordinating a bus trip through Finding Faith Ministries, yet I was not stressed out about it. You see, the old me would have let the “control freak” in her stress about the money, the hiccups, the time schedule, and the satisfaction of the women. The “in process” me surrendered the details of the trip to God and let him drive. I felt an incredible sense of peace this weekend, which allowed me to focus on the speakers, the fellowship, and the spirit.

What does this have to do with the articles I typically write about on money? A LOT! We can use our human knowledge and gifts to manage our finances, but ultimately God drives our income and opportunities. Additionally, God will show his provision when we allow him to. Financial stresses can be overwhelming, which is what Satan intends them to be. Satan wants us to shut down, give up, and get distracted. If you have shut down or are spinning your financial wheels, get help through prayer and the many earthly resources God has provided. “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 KJ). You will find that when you surrender your finances to God, you will find peace. This peace doesn’t mean providing a magic wand will erase past financial choices, but it is the peace of walking WITH God toward financial health.
