Accident on Route 136 Sends One to Hospital Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call at 5:55 p.m. on October 5, 2008 of a vehicle traffic crash on Illinois Route 136 near Sand Road.
A 1996 Lincoln Town Car, driven by Joshua R. Swanson, 19, Morrison was traveling east on Route 136 when it appears he passed out and left the north side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Swanson was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, Clinton, Iowa, where he remains. A passenger in the Swanson vehicle, Matt Updike, 23, Morrison was treated at the scene and declined transport to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigations with charges pending. Any tickets, which may be issued, are simply a presentation of charges, not an indication of guilt, and the accused remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Fulton Police Department, Fulton Fire Department, Fulton Ambulance and Midwest Collision assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
DUI Arrest
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Chris Frank, 37, Rock Falls for DUI on October 6, 2008 at approximately 12:30 a.m. The arrest resulted following a traffic stop. Frank was released on a Notice to Appear in Court.
One Airlifted from Scene of Accident
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to single vehicle accident with two injuries on October 4, 2008 at approximately 2:12 a.m.
The accident occurred at the “T” intersection of Hickory Hills Road and Pilgrim Road. A car driven by Kelson D. Kradel, 21, Chadwick was traveling southbound on Hickory Hills Road. Kradel failed to stop at the intersection with Pilgrim Road. The vehicle traveled across Pilgrim Road, entered the south ditch and overturned.
Kradel was airlifted from the scene and taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford. A passenger in the vehicle, Christopher L. Cash, 20, Oregon was transported to CGH Medical Center.
Milledgeville and CGH EMS, Milledgeville Police and Milledgeville and Coleta Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
