$700,000,000,000. Does anyone else marvel at that number? |
Apparently that is the amount of taxpayer money on the line with the proposed bailout the federal government is looking at. To be honest, I don’t understand this entire issue, nor do I understand exactly what would happen if we did nothing. I do know that some people became extremely wealthy while getting us into this situation. Well, they are still wealthy, and we are still in the situation. How did it happen that the government (our tax dollars) are now taking all the risk for these financial firms? “A bad day racing is better than…” Many of you know that I drag race as a hobby. Local Doctor Surjit Hermon did a different form of racing where they raced vintage cars. Not my thing, but pretty interesting anyhow. I don’t think I could afford the vintage cars that were being used. Sadly, Hermon died while racing two weekends ago. I understand that Hermon was responsible for bringing a lot of medical technology to the area, and that is good for all of us. Unfortunately for his family and friends, he had a very bad day racing. Sometimes, I think I need to think about how I respond to how my day was. I guess it is all relative. I guess every day that you are alive and healthy should be considered a good day. That would be regardless of how the stock market is doing, how secure my job is, or what the price of gasoline is. It’s always better on this side of the sod. I think that losing a doctor to a racing accident just reminded me of that fact. We never know when it is our time, so we should enjoy and cherish every day that we can and live them in some ways like our days are limited. (Within reason of course!) Hopefully every “race” is a safe and enjoyable one. Thanks to everyone who reads and supports The Morrison Post. Have a great week! by Ben Wolf, Guest Columnist |
