Fishing Derby


Some fished with poles, some thought it might be easier to use a net.


Some waited patiently.


Others bored easily

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office and Mounted Patrol 2008 Youth Fishing Derby was held on Saturday, September 6. Two hundred fifteen children registered for the 2008 youth fishing derby held at Morrison - Rockwood State Park.

Category winners are:

LARGE MOUTH BASS – No Legal Fish Caught – All winners were Open Draw: Erika Nelson, 5, Camanche, IA; Justin Williams, 10, Clinton, IA; Michael James, 14, Erie, IL.

WALLEY/MUSKIE – No legal Fish caught – All winners were Open Draw: Kegan Weinrich, 1, Rock Falls, IL; Brianna Martinez, 11, Sterling, IL; Heidi Holcomb 12, Albany, IL

CATFISH: Mason Hinrichs, 7, Prophetstown, IL, Open Draw; Dustin Ziegler, 11, Morrison, IL, 8 ½ inch; Tyler Huevner, 15, Albany, IL, Open Draw

CRAPPIE: Logan Tucker, 7, Morrison, IL, 7 1/4 inches; Jimmie Biba, 10, Tampico, IL, Open Draw; James Sodaro, 12, Dixon, IL, Open Draw

BLUEGILL/SUNFISH: Aiden Darby, 3, Fulton, 8 inches; Kody Lowery, 9, Morrison, 8 ¼ inches; Michael Schroeder, 14, Morrison, 8 ½ inches

SPECIAL AWARDS:
