CCC Will Present "Bridges Out of Poverty..."

Clinton Community College will present “Bridges Out of Poverty – Strategies for Professional & Communities” on Thursday, October 9, 2008.

Presenter Jim Ott will lead this workshop that will encourage you and give you a greater sense of confidence as you work to be a part of bridging the gap for people coming from the culture of poverty. Ott is a School Psychologist with the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency. He has received training from Ruby Payne’s aha!Process company on the culture of poverty.

The objectives of the workshop are to unveil the hidden rules of culture, the social & political factors affecting poverty, family structure & personal identity, and to better communicate through understanding the registers of language.

The program will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Eagle’s Club, 222 ½ South 2nd , Clinton. CEH’s are awarded to Social Workers and Nurses through the Eastern Iowa Community College Education Department.
