2008 Year in Review

Eva Ufkin

Eva Ufkin, 79 of Sterling died Thursday August 14, 2008 at her home.

She was born on April 20, 1929 in Rock Falls the daughter of Chirila and Eva (Pavel) Ordean. She married Earl Ufkin on September 12, 1948 in Rock Falls.

Eva was employed at the General Electric Plant in Morrison for 25 years prior to retiring. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Rock Falls where she had taugh Sunday school for over 20 years; a member of WELCA and a member of the GEM Club. Eva enjoyed collecting antiques, crocheting and loved her family and friends.

Surviving is her husband, Earl; one daughter Elaine (Bill) Cushman of Sterling; two sons, Edward (Lynette) Ufkin of Nappanee, IN and Eldean (Angela) Ufkin of Morrison; seven grandchildren: Brad (Melissa) Cushman, Lynnsey (Payton) Leigh, Martin Ufkin, Katherine Ufkin, Brian Ufkin, August Ufkin and Christian Ufkin; two great grandchildren: Ellie Leigh and Cale Cushman; two sisters, Mary Ratzlaff of Morrison and Anna (Ronald) Young of Rock Falls; and one brother John Ordean of Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Bradley Charles Ufkin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 16, 2008 at 12 PM in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rock Falls with the Reverend Henrietta Milner, Pastor officiating.

Burial will follow at Coloma Township Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday August 15, 2008 from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.

Memorials in her memory to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and Hospice of the Rock River Valley would be appreciated.
