Married to Your Sweetheart, or Married to Their Pain?

Dealing with chronic disease is challenging, for the patient and the caregiver alike. It can test those marriage vows on a daily basis. But you are not alone. By 60 years of age, American’s suffer on average from 2 or more chronic diseases. Conditions such as asthma, diabetes, COPD, high blood pressure, degenerative disc disease, and many others can make patients and caregivers alike feel like they have lost control of their lives.

Stanford University’s Patient Education Research Center has developed a Chronic Disease Self Management Program to address this loss of control and the issues faced by those attempting to manage their chronic conditions. An adaptation of this program, “Live Well Be Well” will be offered locally on Tuesday’s at the CGH Professional Services Building in Sterling from September 9th – October 21st. Choose from either the 9:30AM – noon class or the 6:00 – 8:30 PM class.

The cost for the series is $25 and includes a book and materials. Pre-registration is requested by September 4th. For further information or to register on-line, Click Here or call your local Extension Office at 815-772-4075 to request a registration form.
