June 10, 1912 - August 12, 2008 EDNA M. LANDHEER, 96, of the Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the center. Edna was born on June 10, 1912 in Hopkins Township (Morrison), IL to Fred and Jennie (Schwitters) Landheer. She was educated in the McElrath School of rural Whiteside County. She also attended Scovill’s/Brown’s Business School in Sterling, IL, specializing in secretarial services. Edna worked for seven years as a domestic assistant for Mr. and Mrs. Harry Donichy. In 1942, she moved to Chicago and took a position in the Montgomery Ward’s Credit Department where she worked for eight years. In 1950, she began a 27 year relationship with the W.M. Walker Fishery where she served as a switch board operator and receptionist until her retirement in 1978. Upon retirement she moved to Emerson, IL. Edna was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. She was a cat lover. It was said that there wasn’t a cat she could turn away from her door. Survivors include one sister, Irma Longanecker of Morrison, IL; three nieces, Vera Stutzke of Sterling, IL, Marian Swanson of Sunnyvale, CA, Donna (Bob) Bierman of Morrison, IL; one nephew, Kenneth (Ardith) Landheer of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Freda (Henry) Mennenga; one brother, John (Carrie) Landheer; one nephew, Wayne (Mary) Longanecker.
