Ag Landowner Leasing Workshop Scheduled for September 3

As agricultural landowners seek information on the 2009 rental market and management of their farm property in general, many find there is no shortage of opinion. Some landowners get their advice from competing farms in the neighborhood or a relative who always seems to have a better deal than they have, while still others get their leasing and farm management advice from those sitting around and chatting at the corner café.

However, if you are a landowner who is interested in hearing a non-biased presentation by University of Illinois Extension, mark September 3 on your calendar and attend the ‘09 Farm Leasing Workshop. The program, which is provided by University of Illinois Extension Henry-Stark Unit, is scheduled to run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on the campus of Black Hawk East in the auditorium.

Jim Endress, University of Illinois Extension Farm Business Management and Marketing Educator, will be covering the following topics: leasing outlook for 2009 with relation to commodity prices and increased risk; ‘what if’ considerations; new government program; formula cash farm leases; and questions and answers.

To ensure a seat, registration must be received prior to noon Thursday, August 28, by calling the Extension office at 853-1533 or by emailing Jeff West at jwest@uiuc.edu. Registration for this program is $14 each or $22 for two. The registration includes the program, speaker handouts, and fresh baked pie and drink.

Sorry, we will not mail out handouts specifically designed for this program for those who cannot attend.
