ELSIE M. FOLKERS, 84, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

Elsie was born on August 4, 1923 in Fairhaven Township, IL to Emil and Clara (Steinmeyer) Buhrow. She was educated in the Hickory Grove Grade School of rural Whiteside County. She married Henry F. Folkers on September 9, 1940 in Clinton, IA. Elsie farmed with her husband Henry in the rural Morrison area and together they were Pioneer Seed Corn Dealers. She also owned and operated Elsie’s Beauty Shop in her home. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, Bible study groups and many other church activities. She was a Vacation Bible School volunteer. Elsie served as a 4-H leader and member of the Whiteside County Home Extension. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and baking.

Survivors include her husband, Henry; one daughter, Beverly (Ken) Helgeson of Milliken, CO; one son, Gary (Pat) Folkers of Lyndon, IL; seven grandchildren, Brent (Arlene) Helgeson, Lance Helgeson, Shawn (Grace) Helgeson, Grant (Angie) Helgeson, Sherri Dirks, Jeff (Barb) Folkers, Scott (Andrea) Folkers; eight great grandchildren, Lyndsey and Kensey Helgeson, Christina and Steven Helgeson, Dustin, Ashlee and Travis Dirks, Marissa Folkers; one sister, Hazel (Ernest) Schultz of Sterling, IL; two brothers, Robert Buhrow of Sterling, IL and Eugene Buhrow of Sterling, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lee Ray Folkers; one sister, Leona Valequez.

GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 AM Wednesday – July 30, 2008 at the Hopkins Township Cemetery – Sterling, IL

OFFICIATING: Rev. Mike Winkelman – St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Morrison, IL

VISITATION: NO VISITATION – Morrison Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements

INTERMENT: Hopkins Township Cemetery – Sterling, IL
