Crab Tree Cut Down
Colby S. Richmond, Morrison, reported on August 5, 2008, at approximately ll:07 am, that someone had cut down a crabapple tree in his yard at 403 North Orange Street. The damage is believed to have occurred some time the previous night. Damage to Vehicle
Linda E. Bryan, Morrison, reported on August 5, 2008, at approximately ll:51 pm, that someone had jumped on her 2000 Dodge Neon while it was parked in her driveway at 209 West Park Street. The damage was believed to have occurred the previous night.
Stolen Trailer
Richard D, Lindstrom, Morrison, reported on August 5, 2008, at approximately 12:05pm, that a black Rettig utility trailer was stolen from the parking lot of Scooby Do's Dog Grooming. The trailer was stolen some time the previous night.
Broken Statue
A representative of St. Anne's Episcopal Church reported on August 6, 2008, at approximately 9:30am that someone had broken four fingers off of a statue depicting Jesus Christ. The damage was believed to have occurred some time during the night of August 2.
Criminal Trespass to Vehicle Charge
Morrison Police charged Matthew W. McGinn, 45, Rock Falls, Illinois, on August 7, 2008, with criminal trespass to vehicle. McGinn was charged after he failed to return a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that he took for a test-drive the previous day. McGinn and the truck were recovered at his tree removal business on Prophet Road, after On-Star tracked the vehicle. McGinn was transported to the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center where he was later released on $100 cash bond. McGinn is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Whiteside County Sheriffs Office assisted with the apprehension of McGinn, and the recovery of the truck.
Two-Vehicle Accident
Morrison Police investigated a two-vehicle traffic accident at Route #30 and the Rock Creek Bridge on August 8, 2008, at approximately 10:12 am, An eastbound car driven by David L Boyjisky, 63, Fulton, Illinois, was slowing for a vehicle in front of him. A Semi tractor-trailer, driven by Matthew M. Rieck, 22, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, crashed into the rear of the Boyjisky vehicle. There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. Total damage to both vehicles exceeded $500. Rieck was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Rieck is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sexual Abuse
A mandated reporter of crimes against children reported on August 8, 2008, at approximately 2:00pm, that a 13-year-old had been sexually abused by an adult male some time in June. Morrison Police and April House Child Advocacy Center are conducting the investigation.
Two Vehicle Accident
Morrison Police investigated a two-car traffic accident in the 600 block of East Lincolnway on August 9, 2008, at approximately 3:59pm, An eastbound car driven by Carol L. Downs, 62, Colona, Illinois, was slowing to turn into a private drive. A second eastbound car, driven by Donald N. Sherrick, 73, Polo, Illinois, struck the rear of the Downs vehicle. There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. Total damage to both vehicles exceeded $500. Sherrick was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Sherrick is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
