Well, fair season is finally here. I usually hit both the Carroll and Whiteside County Fairs for at least one evening each. If it is my choice, we will see truck or tractor pulling, tour the farm equipment on display, check out some of the exhibits, and eat some food with no nutritional value and lots of fat, sugar and salt. (We might even eat some beef or pork just to keep us alive!) We usually meet some friends there and enjoy the glutton of things that can make us smile. I have had several doses of sweet corn, and have sweated through a couple of days that remind me that it is indeed summer in the Midwest. Another very positive note is the price of gasoline! It has fallen for two weeks running now. I wouldn’t expect this trend to go on for long, but it is sure better than rising prices. I wonder if this is a marketing strategy. Get us used to higher prices, and then back off a little so that people will go back to driving. I have to admit that it has made me feel better. I’m a sucker for a sale though! Thanks to everyone who reads The Morrison Post and to our advertisers who make it possible to bring this newspaper to your home or business every week for free.
