Morrison Youth Fall Soccer League

The Youth Soccer Program through the City of Morrison will begin in September for boys and girls Age 4 by August 1 and boys and girls in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Soccer requires no special equipment...just a pair of tennis shoes and a desire to play the game. The league is designed to help youngsters learn the game of soccer, acquire new skills and improve newly acquired abilities. The emphasis of the league is on skill development, sportsmanship and fun. The program is split into groups by grades - Ages 4 through Kindergarten; First/Second; and Third through Fifth. The Soccer League will be held at the French Creek Park adjacent to the Industrial Park on Route 78.

Registration forms will be distributed through school on the first day. They are available at City Hall or can be downloaded at Soccer Registration. Registration Forms and the fee of $10.00 will be due by August 25, 2008 at City Hall. Notification of teams, practices and games will be determined AFTER the registration deadline and according to the availability of volunteer coaches. It is most likely that each team will practice at least two times per week for two weeks before games begin. Games will be held one or two times per week. In the past, the practices and games were held in the early evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays. Following the registration deadline, the participants will be notified by mail as to the team and schedule.

COACHES ARE NEEDED AT ALL LEVELS. Please consider volunteering to help as a coach. With a little effort, the game is very easy to learn. Our goal is to get enough coaches so there are a manageable number of participants on each team. Please indicate on the registration form if you would be willing to help. An organizational meeting will be held for coaches on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Room at the Odell Library.
