God's Money

Did you know that there are over 2,350 scriptures in the bible concerned material possessions? Also, many of the parables that Jesus shared concerned money. God knew that we were going to struggle with material possessions, so he provided to us the perfect financial guidebook with his word - the Bible. Within the Bible you will find guidance on debt, work, saving/investing, children, budgeting, contentment, evil uses of money, greed, idolatry, taxes, helping the poor, riches, and more. God did not provide a get rich quick scheme, a promise that we would be financially wealthy, or the guarantee that we would be shielded from financial challenges or hardships.

Have you ever considered that money is more than just money to God and that there are many life lessons to be learned from the management money? For example: by saving for a purchase instead of charging it, we learn patience, planning, work, self-restraint, and contentment. Because we live in such a self-indulgent society, we have lost sight of the fact that we are not here for us and we are not here forever. Our time on earth is limited and the lessons we learn here will be carried with us into eternity. The more responsible we manage the material possessions entrusted to us on earth, the more we will be entrusted with in eternity. God has entrusted us with his material possessions here - they aren’t ours. Think of it as having been put in charge of your best friend’s money. Would you run up their credit cards, spend all they make, or buy “stuff” they do not really need?
