What's New at the 138th Annual Whiteside County Fair

LogHoggers Chainsaw Sculpting will be making 4 carvings a day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday that will be auctioned on Saturday around 4 p.m. Make sure you stop by each day and see what kinds of sculptures are being made. This will be located south of the brown building or just follow the sound of the chainsaw.

Mississippi Valley Gymnastics Show Team and Cheerleading Team will be performing on Wednesday, Aug 13th at 5:30 by the picnic area by the Ag building. This will be an awesome show with kids ages 5-16 years old performing gymnastics stunts as well as a performance by the Cheer Team.

That same day at 7:00 p.m. Next-Level Pro-Bullriding will be showing the crowd some exciting Bull Riding. Get ready to watch the bulls blast out the shoots with the riders hand tied down to the bull and trying to stay on for 8 seconds.

Textile Demonstrations will be going on again this year the week of the fair. Tuesday, Aug. 12th from 12:00 noon-300 p.m. Basic Quilting Techniques, 1:00-2:00 p.m. Learn to Crochet, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Cake Decorating.

Wednesday, Aug. 13th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Learn to Knit and Propagation of Plants, 3:00-4:00 p.m. is Wood Carving. Friday, Aug. 15th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Scrapbooking – Bring two 4x6 Photos for a small project, 2:00-3:00 p.m. One Stroke Decorative Painting, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Gardening Body Smarts.

Saturday, Aug 16th from 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. Paper Bead Making, 1:00-2:00 p.m. Learn Tatting – Needle/Shuttle.

Grandpa Cratchet puppet show will return to the Fair again this year.

Wilson Family Rides will provide the midway entertainment, with new rides and attractions that will delight fair-goers this year. Only $9 gets a rider unlimited rides from 1-5 p.m. on “wristband days”—Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. “Midway Madness” takes over Wednesday from 1-9 p.m. when a rider can ride to his or her content with the purchase of a $15 wristband. Look for $2 off coupons in the newspapers, as well as in this year’s fair book, to make Midway Madness an even better deal.
